WHO WE ARE

The Australian Guiding Program

The Australian Guiding Program covers the seven Fundamentals of Guiding:

  • Promise and Law

  • Outdoors

  • Service

  • World Guiding

  • Guiding Traditions

  • Leadership

  • Patrols

At Mount Barker we aim to cover all of these Fundamentals in our program through a range of indoor and outdoor activities, skill development, craft, singing, camping, community involvement, and much more.  We have an emphasis on leadership, teamwork, and skills development.  Each girl is encouraged to challenge herself at her own level.

Older Girls and Young Women

Within our Unit we have special programs for girls in secondary school and for young women, which can be adapted to suit their special needs and interests.

  • The Queen's Guide program is a peak achievement for girls aged between 14 and 17.  It counts towards the SACE in levels 1 and 2, and takes about a year to complete.

  • We can accommodate girls and young women both under and over 18 who are enrolled in Community Studies and Personal Learning Project.

  • The Olave Program for women aged 18 to 30 provides an opportunity for friendship, adventure, and achievement.
