Thinking Day 2016
22 February
Connecting with 10 million WAGGGS member
Each year on 22 February Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world get together to celebrate Guiding.
This year's theme was "Connect" and we really connected at the GGSA Thinking Day event, held at Highgate Girl Guide Hall. We joined with Guides from all over South Australia and explored the "Connect" theme by connecting with ourselves, our friends, our world, and WAGGGS - the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
We learned a bit about the World Centres, discovered our super powers, wore magic boots, spent time in the wild, and encouraged one another in a day of Guiding fun and friendship.
A whole new year of adventures
With the end of the holidays and the return to school comes the beginning of a brand new year of Guiding. This year Mount Barker Girl Guides has big plans to provide an amazing program for our girls in all age groups, and to be involved in the community.
We have camps and sleepovers, activity days, community service, and fun days out in our diary for the year. We also have some fantastic activities planned for our regular weekly meetings.
Term one will have a Guiding History theme, as girls in all age groups delve into the past to find out how Guiding began, and to learn the history of our own unit, all the way back to its beginnings in 1915.
We'll also tackle new badges and learn new skills, with old and new members taking on challenges each week.
Welcome Back to Guiding for 2016

Giving Service in our Local Community
We love to help our local community, and Clean Up Australia gives us an opportunity for everyone to be involved.
Our Clean Up site this year was along the linear trail in Mount Barker, from Cornerstone College to Laratinga. We found lots of rubbish hiding along the way, and a very large amount in the shopping centre car park. Of course we made sure that we picked it all up as we went.
We'd like to thank Emma at Mount Barker District Council for her assistance with organising our Clean Up activities this year.
